Review: Eleanor and Grey by Brittainy C. Cherry

Eleanor & Grey, an all-new beautiful and emotional standalone from Brittainy C. Cherry is available now! Greyson East left his mark on me. As the young girl who first fell for him, I didn’t know much about life. I did know about his smiles, though, and his laughs, and the strange way my stomach flipped when he was near. Life was perfect…until it wasn’t, and when we were forced to go our separate ways, I held on to our memories, let go of my first crush, and wished for the day I’d find him again. When my wish came true, it was nothing like I imagined. I couldn’t have known when I took the nanny position that it would be his children I looked after, that my new boss would be that boy I used to know, that boy who was now a man—a cold, lonely, detached man. The smile and laugh I had loved so much were gone, now distant memories. Every part of him was covered in a fresh pain. When he realized who I was, he made me promise to do my job and my job only. He made me promise not to try to ge...

If you’re looking for a story about a good, humble girl, who’s been hurt by someone she thought she could trust, only to find out she’s not as vulnerable as she thought she was and discovers an empowering side of herself that falls in love with the guy who helps her find that self, blah, blah, blah...then you’re gonna’ hate my story.

Previous Cover
Because mine is not the story you read every time you bend back the cover of the latest trend novel. It’s not the “I can do anything, now that I’ve found you/I’m misunderstood but one day you’ll find me irresistible because of it” tale. Why? Because, if I was being honest with you, I’m a complete witch. There’s nothing redeeming about me. I’m a friend using, drug abusing, sex addict from Los Angeles. I’m every girlfriend’s worst nightmare and every boy’s fantasy.

I’m Sophie Price...And this is the story about how I went from the world’s most envied girl to the girl no one wanted around and why I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
When I started reading Vain I hated Sophie Price. She's a horrible excuse for a person. My hatred was actually off the charts. By the end of the book she was one of my favorite characters I've ever encountered. Fisher Amelie not only breaks down all of this girls barriers and builds her back up; but she does so in the most beautiful way imaginable. She turns the self centered brat into a caring and selfless individual. Vain is Sophie's story and it is perfectly flawed, real, and wonderful. Fisher Amelie is one of the best authors out there, and Vain is the perfect example of why.

On the road toward self destruction Sophie is uprooted and replanted into a world she has no idea how to handle. Filled with people who have seen unimaginable things and people whose hearts are bigger than American cities. As Sophie grows next to them she sheds all semblance of her former life, she begins to care less about wants and more about needs. Her life is dramatically altered and in the middle of it all she falls in love with the most amazing man EVER. The best part about Vain is that it is a healthy love story.

The premise at first glance reveals nothing about what the story slowly becomes. The synopsis only tells us about the old Sophie, the girl I wanted nothing more than to strangle. Nothing about her journey and nothing about her transformation. And, that my dearies is why I was so captivated and blown away by this book. And, it is also why I won't share exactly what occurs between these pages, you must read it yourself to find out. Just know that it is one of my top 5 novels of all time. The emotions are off the Richter scale, the need to do something with your life after reading will consume you, and it will open your eyes to the world we live in. This world is filled with money and greed; when there are others who want only to be loved and secure we hold onto possessions like they are oxygen. This book tugged, pulled, and tore my heart strings. Every character was well formed, well developed, and utterly wonderful (even those who weren't). I read well into the night, cried, smiled, and fell deep in love with the story. It is a magnificent well written rollercoaster of events that range of action to drama that led me to all out frustration.

If your looking for a book that isn't just about a boy and a girl but the world that they affect; then this book will be one of your favorites too. Combining a genuine love story with one of the most heartbreaking truths out there, Fisher Amelie breaks the mold. She wrote something meaningful that we can all learn from and she does so beautifully. I love this writer and was privileged enough to get to meet her last June, she is a fantastic person. I loved Callum and Harper, Thomas and January, and now I love Vain. So, go and read it. Share the book love.

My house, or I should say, my father’s house, was built a year before I was born, but it had since been newly renovated on the outside as well as the inside so although I may have grown up in the home, it barely resembled anything like it did when I had been small.

It was grotesquely large, sitting on three acres in Beverly Hills, California. It was French Chateau inspired and more than twenty-eight-thousand square feet. I was in the left wing, my parents were in the right. I could go days without seeing them, the only correspondence was out of necessity, usually to inform me that I was required to make a dinner appearance, and that was usually by note delivered by one of the staff. I had a nanny until fourteen, when I fired her for attempting to discipline me. My parents didn’t realize for months and decided I was capable of caring for myself after and never bothered to replace the position.

Freedom is just that. Absolutely no restrictions. I abandoned myself to every whim I felt. Every want I fulfilled and every desire was quenched. I wanted for nothing.

Except attention.

And I got that, I’ll admit, not in the healthiest of ways. I won’t lie to you, it felt gratifying...in a sense. I was rather unrestrained with my time and body. I wasn’t different from most girls I knew. Well, except the fact I was exponentially better looking, but why beat a dead horse? The only difference between them and myself was I kept them wanting more. I used many, many, many boys and tossed them aside, discarding them, ironically, like many of them did to so many other girls before me.

This is what kept them baited. I gave them but a glimpse of my taste and they tasted absinthe. They were hooked by la fée verte as I was so often called. I was “the green fairy.” I flitted into your life, showed you ecstasy, and left you dependent. I did this for fun, for the hell of it, for attention. I wanted to be wanted, and my word, did they want me. Did they ever.

Review: Die For You by Amy Fellner Dominy

Review: Ah, teenage love. The intensity, the newness, the obsessive way it takes over your life. This powerful and chilling tale of love gone wrong will haunt you for weeks to come after you close the cover. What starts as a sweet romance slowly, horrifyingly turns bad when Emma and Dillon collide. Watching Dillon slowly become darker and more obsessive, more abusive is horrifying, but Amy Fellner Dominy does a beautiful job of show how organic and natural something that seems so right can twist into something so, so wrong. DIE FOR YOU is that book you want teens to read. You want them to see how easy it is to be blinded by the stars in your eyes. 1 in 11 students report being physically harmed by their date ( KidsHealth.org ). This isn't a problem that's going away, but it is one that needs to be discussed more. This was my first book by Amy Fellner Dominy and it won't be my last. I love the way she tells a story, letting the characters carry the bulk of the book and keepi...
