Review: Eleanor and Grey by Brittainy C. Cherry

Eleanor & Grey, an all-new beautiful and emotional standalone from Brittainy C. Cherry is available now! Greyson East left his mark on me. As the young girl who first fell for him, I didn’t know much about life. I did know about his smiles, though, and his laughs, and the strange way my stomach flipped when he was near. Life was perfect…until it wasn’t, and when we were forced to go our separate ways, I held on to our memories, let go of my first crush, and wished for the day I’d find him again. When my wish came true, it was nothing like I imagined. I couldn’t have known when I took the nanny position that it would be his children I looked after, that my new boss would be that boy I used to know, that boy who was now a man—a cold, lonely, detached man. The smile and laugh I had loved so much were gone, now distant memories. Every part of him was covered in a fresh pain. When he realized who I was, he made me promise to do my job and my job only. He made me promise not to try to ge...

The Secret

Blog Tour: The Rift Uprising

FAST 5 WITH AMY FOSTER

Last book you read:

The last book I read was My Lady Jane. I thought it was fantastic. I loved how three authors got together (there is power in numbers!) and combined their strength and fan base which was smart and effective on about a thousand levels. I love it when women work together. I particularly enjoyed how they changed the conflict from Catholic Vs. Protestant to Verity Vs. Edian (people who can change into animals and people who can’t.) Also it was really funny!

Last thing that made you cry:

Honestly the last thing that made me cry was yesterday when I was watching my favorite all time episode of Star Trek The Next Generation. The episode is called Inner Light. I make no excuses for my nerdiness…It’s actually a near perfect piece of science fiction.

Last trip you took:

The last trip I took was to Massachusetts. I went to Cape Cod for my In Laws 50th wedding anniversary. It was fun. But, what was REALLY FUN was the little romantic getaway my husband and I took to Salem.  All I’m gonna say about that is Hauswitch- look em up online and get your Witch on.

       My favorite quote(s) are:

This is the beginning of a new day. you have been given this day to use as you will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever; in its place is something that you have to leave behind. Let it be something good.

I also like “You can’t do epic shit with basic people” but I have no idea who said that one!

Best moment as an author:

My best moment as an author was the 2009 Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association Author’s Feast. My debut novel, When Autumn Leaves was about to come out and I finally got to hold the Advanced Reader Copy for the first time.  Seeing my name on an actual book was such a thrill! And the dinner itself was really special because it was with all the independent bookstore owners. They treated us authors like rock stars. It was amazing.

MORE ABOUT THE RIFT UPRISING
Normal seventeen-year-old girls go to high school, binge watch TV shows all weekend, and flirt with everyone on the face of the Earth. But Ryn Whitaker is trying to save it.

Ryn is a Citadel. A soldier. A liar. Ryn and her fellow Citadels were specially chosen and trained to guard a Rift—one of fourteen unpredictable tears in the fabric of the universe that serve as doorways to alternate Earths. Unbeknownst to her family, Ryn leaves for school each day and then reports for duty as an elite, cybernetically-altered soldier who can run faster, jump farther, and fight better than a Navy SEAL—which comes in handy when she’s not sure if axe-wielding Vikings or any number of other terrified and often dangerous beings come through the Rift. A fine-tuned weapon, Ryn is a picture-perfect Citadel. But that’s all about to change.

When a young man named Ezra is pulled through the Rift, Ryn finds herself immediately drawn to him, despite her training. What starts as a physical attraction quickly grows deeper, and Ezra’s curiosity throws Ryn off balance when he starts questioning the Rifts, the mysterious organization that oversees them, and the Citadels themselves—questions that lead Ryn to wonder if the lies she’s been telling her family are just the surface of a much bigger lie told to her. As Ryn and Ezra desperately try to get to that truth, they discover that each revelation blurs the line between the villains and the heroes even more.

Beauty Basics: Kat Von D & Influenster

So I've been toying with the idea of adding makeup and skincare reviews to the blog because in case you've missed it, I'm a bit obsessed with both (I even work part time at Ulta just for the discount and access to new products). So when Influenster sent me a box a free goodies to try for review, I figured there was no time like the present so ... Welcome to Beauty Basics! In case you aren't familiar with Influenster , it's a free (yes, free ) website where you can fill out surveys to win stuff. You do not have to be a blogger or vlogger or even all that active on social media to qualify (but it does help). It's awesome and I've gotten tons of free goodies and I'm not on there that much! If you want to sign up:  www.influenster.com/r/1020800 *Fair notice: This is a referral link so I get points towards my impact score if you sign up with this code* And now onto the review: I've tried a few Kat Von D products here and there but never any of her skinc...

Review: Die For You by Amy Fellner Dominy

Review: Ah, teenage love. The intensity, the newness, the obsessive way it takes over your life. This powerful and chilling tale of love gone wrong will haunt you for weeks to come after you close the cover. What starts as a sweet romance slowly, horrifyingly turns bad when Emma and Dillon collide. Watching Dillon slowly become darker and more obsessive, more abusive is horrifying, but Amy Fellner Dominy does a beautiful job of show how organic and natural something that seems so right can twist into something so, so wrong. DIE FOR YOU is that book you want teens to read. You want them to see how easy it is to be blinded by the stars in your eyes. 1 in 11 students report being physically harmed by their date ( KidsHealth.org ). This isn't a problem that's going away, but it is one that needs to be discussed more. This was my first book by Amy Fellner Dominy and it won't be my last. I love the way she tells a story, letting the characters carry the bulk of the book and keepi...
